How we hold your data
Anything you upload is encrypted with AES-256-GCM, and you hold the key that destroys it.
We do not log what you read or how long you linger. There is no profile of you to hand over.

Your workbook, estimates and scenarios are stored in your own browser, on your device — not in a CarryForward database. We never aggregate your data across users, and it is never used to build benchmarks or train models. You can export everything or delete it permanently from Settings at any time. Our Privacy Policy sets out exactly what does and does not reach our servers.
No. CarryForward provides educational tools and estimation services only. All estimates are directional and for planning purposes. Always consult your attorney and forensic accountant before making financial decisions.
Directional. Our estimates use public data about portfolio companies, standard industry assumptions, and your inputs. Private company valuations carry ±30–50% uncertainty. We show Bear/Likely/Bull ranges specifically because single-number precision is impossible with illiquid assets. The more data you provide (K-1s, capital accounts), the more precise the estimate becomes.
No other CarryForward user can see your account, and we send no emails about your activity. The realistic risk is physical access rather than another user: your data sits in the browser you used, so anyone who can unlock that device or browser profile can see it. If that is a concern, use a device they cannot access and clear your data when you finish — Settings has a one-step delete.
